Instructional Baseball & SoftballUpdated Friday February 3, 2017 by Ken Berry League.
Ken Berry League's Instructional league is a non-competitive, instructional baseball and softball program created to introduce children ages 4 to 6 years old important game skills such as hitting, throwing, catching, and base running.
We do not keep score or keep track of outs. Six players bat per each half inning. This truly is "Instructional", there is no pressure to "win". It is just a fun way to learn how to play the game and develop skills for future years.
Instructional Baseball-General Information:
The league provides jerseys and hats for the Instructional league. The pants are purchased by the parents or team. Be sure to check the jersey size for your 4-6 yr old player.
Every Instructional team will play 10 games on the schedule. Roster size will be 14 players maximum this year. Most games are on Saturdays with some during the weekdays.
Games last 1 hr and 15 min. or 4 innings. This is a machine pitch /coach pitch / t-ball league. Each batter gets 4 pitches from the coach, then bats off of the tee if they do not hit off of the coach.
Instructional teams practice at least once a week, but no more than twice a week, depending on the coach.
Coaches for each team set the practice location and times. We need Parents to volunteer to Manage/Coach teams.
Please note that this season, instead of a mandatory candy fundraiser, the SYAA board of directors has opted to simply include the $40.00 normally raised per player with the candybar fund raiser into the registration fee. Rather, each player will receive 5 discount cards which they can then sell for $10.00 each - thereby giving each player an opportunity to recoup $50 which will actually make the player's registration fee go down $10.00.
The benefits to parents, players and the league:
Instructional League (Ages 4 - 6):
• $115.00 Registration
• $5.00 Processing Fee for each registered player
Instructional League Registrations received after March 30th will not be guaranteed a roster spot.
Initial rosters will be assigned by March 31. Coaches will begin contacting players after this date.
Please leave a comment on your registration to request playing with friends or schoolmates. SYAA/Ken Berry League will attempt to honor as many requests as possible, depending on the number of registered participants.
If you would like to coach an instructional team, interested volunteers should also register through the coaching link on the home page of our website.
